I am Laura and the yogi of flamingoyogi. I’m known for my passion, unique approach, and inspirational instructing style that embodies physical, spiritual, and mental strength
I have been practising yoga for 10 years and completed my qualification to teach yoga to both children (with Special Yoga) Teens (with Teen Yoga) and adults (with Universal yoga), accredited with Yoga Alliance Professionals. The course follows the Sivananda lineage from which I keep the foundations for my classes.
Having experienced the benefits of yoga myself and witnessed the change in how I face challenges, I wanted to share this with others. I focus my teaching toward those that don’t attend mainstream yoga classes or would have difficulty accessing a mainstream yoga class. I passionately believe yoga would benefit everybody and should be available for any body and every mind who wants to try.
My interest in sharing yoga with children and teens stem from my experiences as a social worker and witnessing the stress and anxiety our young people face daily. In many practical experiences I saw myself using my Yoga in my interactions with young people and saw the potential to share this knowledge wider. I also have 10 years of experience working with young people and adults with special educational needs and very interested in exploring therapeutic yoga to support parents and individuals to help manage physical disabilities and behavioural difficulties. From here I have become an ambassador for accessible yoga supporting older adults to access a movement and minsful practice as well as for adults with injuries and illnesses. My latest role is within a mental health NHS trust and again the two roles are merging.
The benefits of Yoga are widespread and is different for each yogi (student). I enjoy modifying my teachings to the students that I meet and supporting each individual to find their practice.
I have learnt from my teachers as they have selflessly shared their yoga knowledge and experience with me and I hope that I too am able to offer the same to my students .
